DataProbe

The DataProbe is a research product we designed and built to explore alternative ways to reappear the operation of Internet-connected sensor-abundant devices, like smartphones. The DataProbe discloses some of the technologies and systems that are normally rendered invisible by interaction design, where unseen (and potentially exploitative) work, resource consumption, and data production are implicated by our use of these devices. Through this technically engaged Research Through Design process we offer some tentative design directions for the reappearing computer.
